Quick start

1Allow mic

Click the mic button and choose Allow in your browser prompt.

2Speak

Talk at a normal volume—waveform and bars should move with your voice.

3Adjust

Pick the right device, tweak sensitivity, and toggle Echo/Noise/AGC if needed.

How to use the microphone test

1) Start the test

Click the mic button. When prompted, choose Allow. The waveform and bars will animate if your mic is active.

2) Pick the right input

Use the Microphone dropdown to choose built-in, headset, USB, or Bluetooth mics. Try multiple if you’re unsure.

3) Set levels

Adjust Sensitivity so average speech drives the bars to the middle/high range without constantly maxing out.

4) Improve clarity

Toggle Echo cancel, Noise suppr., or Auto gain if you’re in a noisy room or hearing feedback.

What this mic test measures

Peak shows the highest instant level. RMS is the average loudness over time. Aim for strong RMS without constant 100% peaks. If peaks hit 100% and the sound distorts, lower sensitivity or move the mic farther from your mouth.
