The sample stays in this browser tab and is never uploaded.
Still stuck? Test another mic or check OS input settings.

What this mic test measures
Peak shows the highest instant level. RMS is the average loudness over time. Aim for strong RMS without constant 100% peaks. If peaks hit 100% and the sound distorts, lower sensitivity or move the mic farther from your mouth.
Privacy & permissions
Audio stays on your device and is processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored. To revoke access, open your browser’s site settings and remove the microphone permission.
Keep troubleshooting
- Eject water from speaker if the sound is muffled after a splash.
- Run the speaker test to check for distortion, rattles, or imbalance.
- Try a quiet room and move cables/adapters—ground loops and loose jacks can cause hum or buzz.
- On Windows or macOS, open system sound settings and ensure the correct input is selected and not muted.

How can I test my microphone online?
Start the microphone test, allow browser access, speak normally and watch the live waveform and levels. Then make a short local recording and play it back.
Is the microphone recording private?
Yes. The live analysis and temporary recording stay in your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded to DryPhoneSpeakers, and deleting or closing the tab removes the temporary sample.
Why can’t the browser detect my microphone?
Check the site permission, confirm the correct input is selected and close another app that may be using the microphone. Microphone access also requires HTTPS.
Why is my microphone volume very low?
Move closer, increase sensitivity carefully, check the phone case and microphone openings, disable Bluetooth routing and compare the local playback with another app.
What do echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto gain do?
Echo cancellation reduces feedback, noise suppression lowers steady background noise and auto gain adjusts input level. Toggle them individually to compare results.
